getting out of the old and familiar, and starting a new unknown adventure

“the most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious.  It is the fundamental emotion that stands at the cradle of true art and true science.  whoever does not know it and can no longer wonder, no longer marvel is as good as dead, and his eyes are dimmed ” – albert einstein.

today i learned how to hula hoop!!  i have never been able to hula hoop, and today gail taught me!!!  i’m not sure what happened or why i was able to learn this time, but i do believe it has to do with the combination of having a great teacher and being in an open state of mind to learn.

i’m in a beautiful place in my life, where i am so open to learning.  if i go in with the frame of mind that ‘i can’t hula hoop – that i’ve never been able hula hoop’, then i won’t be able to learn.  but if i go in believing in myself, i can hear what i need to do.  and i can take the mini steps required to learn.

this i do believe is how habits change, and ‘new beginnings’ become possible.  it requires that i step out of a frame of mind that is familiar, a frame of mind that is stuck.  being ‘stuck’ is a place that fears seeing the world and all its possibilities, getting ‘unstuck’ is a place where faith opens your heart to something different.
