goodbye sweet dottie

the service for our 92 year old neighbor was yesterday. a small gathering of family and friends at graveside. a simple and beautiful service. nothing fancy, just her two children and two grandchildren sharing memories.

dick and dottie moved a lot because dick was a pilot in the airforce.  dottie was the rock, the force to be reckoned with, the mom who made sure they lived in communities with the best schools, the mom who was always there when needed. when the kids were launched, she made sure she had a life. she loved to read, travel and explore.

the common thread they shared about dottie was her sense of humor and her outlook on life. when things didn’t go as planned, she’d ask her children, ‘what did you learn?’

and what i heard was, always find a way to forgive, and remember to laugh along the way because there’s so much to be grateful for.
